House Progress Update

posted in Me |

I spent the day yesterday working at the house.  Sweet Kevin stayed here at my parents with the kids all day while I worked.

We got Michael and Aiden’s room painted Solaria.  It’s a really bright yellow.  I waver between wishing I hadn’t picked something quite so bright and saturated and loving it.  I choose one shade darker at the last minute because there wasn’t much contrast between the trim color (lemon chiffon), and my original pick. It’s fun and definitely will be great for the boys.  Our plan is to paint the trim, closet doors, and inside of their door a much lighter yellow from the same paint chip, and then eventually do a Lego mural on one of the walls, and I ordered a red vinyl quote saying “Learn, Imagine, Create” it should be fun.

After seeing the way this paint turned out I think I’m going to change the color I’ve picked for the kitchen, from a bright yet neutral green to a much lighter version of the same color, but am more confident I’ll like the rest of the colors I’ve picked for the whole house.

We got Joey’s room prepped, and the ceiling primed.  His room will be Jersey Cream, I’d describe the color as a sandy cream.  It’s a nice color.  His carpet is navy with several paint stains, it needs to be replaced, but I don’t know how soon that will be in the budget.  If anyone has a 12X15 piece of carper it decent shape, I’ll take it!  :D  His vinyl quote says “woof woof, bow wow, yap, ruff ruff, aroooo”  I ordered that in navy blue.  He’s got so many stuffed dogs, and even two dog rugs (like bear rugs, lol)!  I can’t wait to see it come together.

My Mom cleaned the car port, there were a lot of leafs that had blown in there…  That was really nice of her!  She also textured the walls in the boys bathroom the same way she’s textured a lot of her house.  It looks really nice.  We’re painting that bathroom Stream.  I’d describe stream and a nice true light blue, not very purple or green.  I ordered the quote “Wash, Brush, Floss, & Flush” with a splash above flush in blue for the bathroom.  I also found an adorable frog rug for in there which I’m excited to incorporate into a pond theme eventually.  I think we still have our yellow shower curtain which we’ll use in there.

I’m so sore from all this work and stretching into small crevices both above my head and down on the floor.  And I think I’m getting a head cold.  I’m so glad it’s Sunday, day of rest and worship!  Thanks so much to my dear friend Malinda, my father in law Mark, my Mom, and my brother Nate, oh and I can’t forget my special helper Michael, they all were so much help yesterday, we really appreciate it!

So that’s the big update for now.  We’re still due to close on the 19th.  I’m so ready to be “Finally Home!”

Can’t wait to see pics of the finished project! Once we sale our house we are going to buy the house I grew up in, and we will be ripping up all the carpet (which was put in around a year ago, and used a few months) … The is probably around 1000 sq feet of it. If you are still wanting carpet when we rip it up- you are welcome to it! We are putting in hard wood floors… I’ll let you know when the time comes to see if you are interested!
