Our Ike Experience

Hand written at 7 this morning~ At 10:30 we lost power lastnight, it came back on but our cable and internet never came back. At about 11:45 we lost power for the night. It would flicker on for a few seconds, but ultimately continuously lost power. Kevin and I finally made it to bed at about 1, and didn't get to sleep because of the noise for a while longer, well and Joey was busy kicking each of us, but in that noise I couldn't just leave him in the other room... Around 3:30 AM the wind REALLY picked up and Kevin had another coughing fit. He and I both got up to explore what's going on. We managed to accidentally wake the boys, decided to move them into the…

In all MY panic, I forgot to mention that we've prayed about it and we feel good and safe about staying. Things are a bit crazy, but overall we feel like things will turn out just fine. It's funny cause as I was at the store I was listening to my iPod, and the song by Alanis Morissette came on, "Hand In My Pocket" And it says "What it all comes down to, is everything's going to be fine, fine, fine." And I feel peace that it will be. :) For those who might not know exactly where Houston is in this giant state. Here's a map. It looks like we're really going to be getting a direct hit.

A little bit of Panic

The area that we used to live in, just twenty something miles away was evacuated this morning, but we've been told to "shelter in place," so unless there's some other mandate, we're sticking around. When Allison was here 7 years ago our home was safe (we know the woman who lived here at the time) so that's somewhat comforting. Little Aiden is sick with a head cold. He's not doing to well with that, I don't want to consider cramming him (and the rest of us) in the car for a long evacuation. So gratefully we're hopefully not doing that. Which clothes on Joey for our family pictures?

We're getting family pictures soon, and are wondering what we should put on Joey. Vote on our poll at your right please! And if you have any other suggestions for him, please let us know. either another combination of the outfits we have for him, or if you can find something online for less than $15. My Grandpa, My Parents, and My Brother

My 80 somthingish Grandpa broke his hip lastnight and fell, they're not sure what happened first. He was carrying a BIG watermelon and Grandma seems to think it landed ON him and that's what broke it... So I guess there's three options. He was supposed to go into surgery earlier today but it kept getting knocked back. So I'm not sure what's happened. My parents are currently at a neighborhood/stake (gotta love Utah) meeting concerning a woman in their neighborhood who was badly beaten this week in her home by a door to door magazine salesman, who'd been to my parents home earlier that day. I'm not sure if it's so much concerning the actual incident, local emotional control, or information to help protect themselves. The hazy details I have…

The most handsomest boy who wears glasses!

Michael boy just got glasses yesterday. Here's the story in pictures. Contemplating this new milestone on the way to pick them up. Putting them on for the first time with prescription lenses. Help adjusting them. First impression of having glasses (sadly, I don't think it got much better). Aiden, he kept whining "I wants glasses! Where's my glasses?" Baby Doctor Appointments

How could I forget to document them??? Friday afternoon we took Aiden and Joey for their regular appointments. Let's see, Joey is 26 inches, and over 17 pounds. 50% in both height and weight, which is kinda small for our boys at this stage, but I'm pretty sure it has something to do with him needing more solids than he's getting, so I'm trying to amp that up. We got the OK for all foods accept Honey (which is a "no brainer" in the 21st century). He's healthy all around. He got 6 shots, three in each thigh, so that night and Saturday morning were pretty rough, but he's back to normal now. Aiden is 39 1/2 inches and 40 pounds, I remember Michael being exactly that after one of…

Finally Last Sunday’s “Session”

Rather play date, LOL! The boys were having fun, and I was having fun. Win/Win. :) This was a week and a half ago. We set up the boys indoor play tent and they quickly filled it with a toy stash and some left over boxes and set to work having fun, while I pulled out my camera and snapped some shots. Even Joey got in on the fun towards the end. Silly Boys. Mom! Watch this!!! A Mommy favorite. Another Mommy favorite. Nobody is silly here!! Joey getting in on the big boy fun. Hey! These are some pics that Kevin snapped of me. This is how wet I got in about 1 minute in the rain when I went to go move the car to make sure it didn't have the tree fall on it if the storm really picked up. There were not many dry spots on my shirt. It was totally salt water, my eyes stung so badly! Me and my Cookie. He loves rain just like his Mommy. So, as I browsed the family blog this morning (my Rawlings family and I have a private family blog), I was talking with Aiden about who the people were in the pictures. He likes pictures.
