Joseph’s 2 week check-up

Baby Joey
The little guy gained 1 pound and 6 ounces over the last two weeks... That's over an ounce and a half a day!!! The pediatrician was really impressed because at two weeks babies are only expected to be back to their birth weight... We can't even be sure he lost any weight. I guess there's NO question that he's getting enough milk. He weighs 9 pounds, 9 ounces; I was hoping to be at 9 pounds so I was laughing when she just kept sliding the ounces over on the scale. He's also grown an inch and is at 21 inches tall from 20 at birth, and is ahead in a couple milestones like how far away he can follow an object, and how close he can focus his eyes.…

Diapers

Baby Joey
We have a LOT of diapers now.  I bought almost 400 of them for Joey today (2 cases), and a case for Aiden.  Oh, and I got a case of wipes. We won't have to worry about them for a while.  I realized today that I change a lot of diapers in the course of a day.  Only for my precious little boys. :) I also realized that my day goes in slow motion, and that taking care of all of there little people needs takes a lot of time and energy. Feeding, changing, keeping clean, laundry, burping, entertaining, keeping happy, getting buckled into car seats properly, dropping off, picking up...  No wonder I don't get much else done these days...  All in all, seriously I'm not complaining, they're so…

Joey’s Spinal Ultrasound results

Baby Joey
Everything looks normal! Yay for a healthy baby! Joey did really well once the Tech found him a pacifier. Yay for having things done at a place specifically for children... Just being there made me realize how lucky and blessed I am to have healthy children. All around me while we were there there were children with obvious disabilities, and parents nervously waiting for test results and to be reunited with their children. Aiden did great too. He played quietly in the waiting room and for the most part stayed right with me. The only rough spot was when I had to juggle the boys and get my insurance card scanned and pay, I was too nervous that he'd disappear while I turned around to sign something, so I made…

A Busy Day

Baby Joey
So we've got a lot going on this week and I'm not feeling very excited about it. Joey didn't sleep very well the last two night, especially not Saturday night...  I had a migraine lastnight so I could harldy function through the early morning feedings, so Kevin was up with Joey for a good time. Today he has an ultrasound at Texas Children's Hospital to check on his spine. He has a dimple at his tail bone, and after the doctor examined it she wasn't totally convinced that his spine is completely closed. Given my history of Spina Bifida Ocolta (I have an extra vertebra that's only partially closed), they want to get a good look to make sure his little back is healthy. Aiden has been having some trouble…

Prayers Please

Baby Joey
Aiden broke a pretty high fever lastnight.  We're really trying to keep Joey and Aiden apart, but it isn't always easy.  Joey is young enough that any fever, at all, means an automatic hospital stay, so we're pretty scared that he'll get sick from Aiden.  Luckily Michael never had a fever (unless it was in the middle of the night and we didn't know about it), so we're just hoping that it was a quick thing and we're past the worst of it.  Aiden has been normal temp all day today but his voice is nasty, he has a yucky cough, and red watery eyes. Kevin had to go into work for some very important stuff, so I'm home with both boys.  He should be home soon to help out. …

Cabin Fever

Baby Joey
I've left the house twice now since returning from the hospital. Once with Kevin for the doctors appointment, to pick up Mike from School and to grab a script at Target. My second trip was for a very short run to pick up another prescription (the Target Pharmacy tech and pharmacist know me by name now and ask about my boys like we're old friends, we joke "See you tomorrow!" or "See you in a couple days!" as I leave now) a few pacifiers, a box of wipes (for the refills I bought without thinking we didn't have the matching box, LOL!), some more cold medicine for Michael, and a couple more sleepers and receiving blankets... I left the house by myself, ran to Target (about a mile and a…
