OK, you’re probably tired of this portrait session already, but this is special to our family.
This sweater was knit for my husband Kevin as a baby almost 30 years ago by his Grandma Bonnie. Each of our boys have worn it, I wish I could find pics of the other boys in it, I know they’re here, somewhere, but not at my fingertips now… Now I thought it was lost in the move, and I felt horrible, I couldn’t remember how big it was. and thought it was probably going to be too small by next fall, as you can tell by the way it floods him that is not the case.
About a week ago I was going through boxes trying to find something totally unrelated, and there it was at the top of the box of clothes that the older boys have grown out of and that should fit Joey over the next year. I seriously almost cried. I dont’ think of myself as hugely sentamental, but it’s so warm and soft and cuddly, and the fact that it was made with love for my hubby so many years ago, it is something special that I hope I can make last another generation. I’m TERRIBLE at sweater care, and actually cringed a little when MIL gave it to me (sorry Peggy!) because I thought it might sit in a box and be forgotten, or would be ruined after the first wear, and if I remember right Michael got it pretty sticky a couple times, but I adore this gift that has now been given by TWO Grandma’s!
Now to decide which child will get to cary on the tradition. I guess that depends on who they marry and what they want.
That is an amazing picture. What did you use as your backdrop? I loves Joey’s wispy hair and that sweater is a great color on him. I need to have you come take pictures of my boys sometime.
What a cutie! You should keep the sweater and take the pictures of all the grandbabies in it when there are grandbabies to put in it.
Brittany, It’s black seamless paper. 🙂 and Thanks!
