Surgery #3 Update

Kevin had surgery #3 tonight, it went well, it was just to check on things and to irrigate the cloudy stuff that had gathered.  We hoped they could go ahead and sew his belly together, but he’s still too swollen, so PLEASE pray that his swelling will continue to decrease, and they can seal him up with his next surgery.  The gap gets smaller with each time, so here’s hoping…

He’s doing nicely, as well as can be expected for all he’s been through.

I was going to stay the night with him, but realized it wouldn’t make much difference to him, but it would make a difference for me to sleep at home and be with our kids in the morning.  Plus I know he’s in excellent hands, I love his nurses they’ve all been so excellent in their own ways and are positive yet forthright.

He’s still sedated, and will be until he’s ready to come off the ventilator after the last surgery.  It’s sad to not be able to talk with him, but I feel that he’s healing the fastest when he’s not trying to think about everything else, and his body can just work on healing.

Thanks again to all those offering help to our families as they care for the boys and support us, thank you for prayers on Kevin’s behalf as well as mine.  I’m normally prone to depression but I’m doing very well.  I have my cry sessions, but then I’m able to keep positive and be upbeat for Kevin the rest of the day.

Thanks for keeping us updates on Kevin is doing. I have been following your posts, but haven’t commented yet. Just know that our prayers are with you guys. I pray that he will continue to improve, and that you and the boys will remain positive and hopeful. God bless!

  • Thanks for the update Kaylene. Our thoughts and prayers are continually with you. Please let me know if there is anything we can do – especially with the weekend coming up – our schedules are clear. Love you all!
