I had a pretty good day. We got up and took Kevin to work. On the way home we went to the grocery store and picked up some strawberries, cream and chocolate for ganache for the cake we were going to make, and some cheese bread and crab salad for lunch, and a few other odds and ends.
We came home and enjoyed playing together, I got to watch some girly shows, and I got to get a shower, that never happens when Kevin isn’t home, I had to wait till Joseph took a nap and then get the other boys doubly distracted between the computer and kiddy TV shows. Every time Aiden got whinny I pulled the “birthday card,” and thankfully all major tantrums were avoided. Yay! My Mom called me, she actually called seconds after I’d gotten in the shower and rubbed body scrub all over myself, LOL! So I had to call her back. And Sara called. My dad also called lastnight. I loved talking to all of you! I also received numerous Happy Birthday wishes online all day long between facebook and the 2 forums I frequent, that made me feel so good! I just took the day so easy, and it was really nice.
At around 2 Kevin called to let me know he’d be done for the day around 3:30! Cool! So I got ready to go get him then, and then I couldn’t get ahold of him (they STILL haven’t replaced his phone), I called at 3:45, then 4, then just moved on figuring if he hadn’t called that something big had come up. Sure enough at 4:30 I got a call, and he’d been held up. So I went to pick him up at 5.
On the way home we dropped by a store that I used to like, but it was gone. Like the store was empty. 🙁 Guess I didn’t want a silver and CZ tennis bracelet for $20… Oh well… It was pretty when I saw it and I should have gotten it, LOL!
So we came home and Kevin ordered the dinner I wanted. We had Dumplings, Crab Puffs, Sesame Chicken, Orange Chicken, Broccoli Beef, and Green Pepper Steak, some steamed rice and some fried rice. It was SO yummy! The boys even ate a bit of it!
I’d decided I didn’t want to take the time to make the cake, and Kevin didn’t really want to either, so he went and bought me the cake, he got me a Red Velvet Cake yummy! I’ll have to dip the strawberries today though, they’ll still be a YUMMY treat!
Here’s my cake.
Here Joey and I are just hanging out.
Then Michael jumped in. 🙂
Blowing out the candles, notice Joey’d changing expression towards the cake.

What a fun birthday!!! That’s really exciting!
Sorry this is late – but happy birthday! How many doe this make? I can ask that because I’m a girl too. Now if a man asked you…tsk tsk tsk. Wait, you maybe mentioned it in your last blog and I haven’t read it yet LOL. Your cake looks yummy. I’ve never had red velvet cake before, what flavor is it?
Sounds like a great birthday!
It was so fun, I’ve been enjoying it. I’ve been sniching my gourmet chocolate I got for the ganache, LOL! Oh well…
Jenni, red velvet is an old fashioned southern cake, it’s chocolate flavored, thought not very strongly, and it’s made red with beet juice (which you can’t even start to taste). It’s a very moist velvety cake a little heavier than traditional cake, maybe a weight like carrot or real chocolate cake. You may be able to find a mix in the baking aisle with the other mixes. This one was covered in a very rick cream cheese frosting, it was too much for me, I’m not sure if that’s THE frosting to use, or not. HTH.
Red velvet cake is my favorite type of cake. It looks good!
