OK, why I got my birthday present so late…
I’ve had my eye on mineral make-up for about a year now. I shopped around and the most professional but less expensive apparently became Everyday Minerals. I asked around on my old forum, and read from several women who’d ordered from them and been thrilled with the products. To top it off they have a free sample kit, where you pick 3 foundations, a blush or face color (some call this a bronzer), and a concealer for shipping cost alone. Can’t loose, right?
I ordered a package from Everyday Minerals at the end of May for my birthday (June 5th). According to the shipping rate, I should have received it before or on my Birthday. I was a little concerned when I didn’t receive a detailed invoice, but I had confidence that they had it all figured out, I just wished I’d hit print screen before ordering, so that I had a record of what was in my cart.
My birthday came and went without my package. Oh well, I had a nice birthday anyways. I emailed them, they said it had been shipped, but wouldn’t/couldn’t give me shipping information. After several emails back and talking to their 24/7 support chat, I got a 20% off coupon code, but it would expire in a couple of days.
So after two weeks, I went ahead and made another order (I know, not the brightest) with the coupon, and getting another free kit, you can get one free kit per order. This time I got a detailed invoice. Yay!
Finally I got an email saying that they knew what happened. That DHL had lost my order because DHL’s hub is here in Houston and they “loose 95% of orders to Texas, even more to Houston.” Something smells fishy. I then was checking my email and got a refund invoice for 25% of my purchase. Huh!? I emailed them back asking what the invoice was for and why it was only 25% of my order total, was I getting my order? Was it on its way? I then checked my spam (not something I usually bother with) and there was an email with an apology, and explanation of refund.
I emailed DHL, I got a curt reply asking for my tracking number, which meant either this was an automated reply or someone who hadn’t read my letter. I became irate with DHL after a very carefully worded email to them detailing all of the information I had, telling them I didn’t have any shipping info besides dates, my order number etc… Once I (shamefully) wrote them back laying it all out in plain English, I was still getting nowhere. I got back a very nice email apologizing for the error and saying they had no recollection of this order but couldn’t give me any further information without any tracking info. I’m now pretty positive that that first order never actually shipped from Everyday Minerals.
I got my second order in timely fashion (actually overnighted, I’m sure due to my pestering). Nice product, I got even more excited for my original order.
I emailed them once again, and this time got a little more runaround. I have no patience with run around. Some hullabaloo about dumb computer guys, and being “only make-up girls wanting to have fun,” you can bet that one didn’t go over well here… Then some more hullabaloo about my order being messed up because of them taking their pruduct international (they’re in Austin), so their out of the states customers might expect some delay.
They said they’d send out a new package with a free gift for my trouble. Then two days later, after several emails from me asking for a tracking number, I got an email asking what I’d chosen in my free kit since they’d lost that record. I went and picked stuff (since I didn’t even have that record), three or four more days later, and nothing. Finally Friday I emailed them saying that if we couldn’t get this resolved by Monday that I’d need a full refund (including that I’d already had a partial). Suddenly Monday morning, they “realized” that they had lost the items in the rest of my order and I needed to re-submit those as well. OK, so I spent MORE time on their site trying to pick my products, but I enjoyed it. It was shipped Yesterday by second day DHL, and arrived today.
The make-up’s great! I LOVE it. My free gift is something I’ll never use, but I know not to look a gift horse… Too bad my experience stunk so bad, I don’t know what I’ll do when it’s time for more. Maybe I’ll break down for a more expensive brand. I looked over the ingredients, and this one’s super pure, and I’ve tried two other brands (in the store) and wasn’t impressed, so we’ll have to see when that time comes.
Maybe it was their programmers fault, they did just change their whole format, but they should have tested and double tested before putting it online, and they shouldn’t have been so dishonest with me about their problems.

On an up note, I did however also get my new business cards and self-inking stamp of my logo today, Yay!!! I’m not exactly pleased with them, I woudn’t have gotten them with the U/V coating if I’d have known it is just laminate, and the color is slightly pink, so the wedding dress on them looks champagne rather than white, the grass looks like Houston grass rather than the Utah grass it is, and the cobalt is muted, but now I finally have something to hand out again! Yay!! And my clients won’t know the difference (unless you’re reading this, in that case, HI!!!). I’ll still order my next set of cards from them, Overnight Prints, but will know what adjustments to make.

I am impressed that you kept getting after that company. I would have given up hope after about the second bogus correspondence. And I do like your new cards!! They look awesome.
What an obnoxious situation. I have to say, though, that I have had VEEEEEEEEEEERY bad luck with DHL deliveries.
I ordered something from a company in late March, that was shipped DHL on April 1, with a “guaranteed” delivery date one week later. They provided a tracking # and everything. The tracking #, however, stopped providing info on April 4.
After various attempts at contacting both DHL and the orginal company, a second parcel was shipped to me (free) on April 17, with a “guaranteed” delivery date of April 23 or earlier.
When a package arrived on April 21, I thought it must be that second one. But I checked the tracking #, and nope – it was the first package, that had gone missing 2 weeks before.
So, even though I now had my product, I was expecting the second parcel by April 23, right? Would you believe that the 2nd box FINALLY arrived on May 28? Over a MONTH after the promised date??
I hate DHL with a passion.
and my i might add that my pedi looks nice, and i really like those toes!!
I really like that font and the card kaylene. I am flattered you used me on your card, I am going to be well known around those parts!

I’m glad to know someone who has tried that product. I’m sorry it was such a hassle. I’ve been wanting to get that, too. What other brands did you try because I was going to try some out?
And I love the business cards. I may have you do my family pictures sometime.
I’d love to do your family portraits sometime! Did I give you a card lastnight? I don’t remember.
I don’t know what the first one was, but it was a traveling booth in Sam’s Club a few months ago, it was pretty heavy, only had a very few foundation color choices, and was overpriced in my opinion. The demonstration guy was rude too, so that made some impression on me.
The other one is the one at Sally’s Beauty Supple (I actually have a foundation, eyeshadow, and a kabuki brush that sheds like mad from them) feMMe couture (the brand) mineral effects (the mineral branch). It’s too oily feeling, and it highlights and settles into my wrinkles as well as highlighting them… It’s also a bit too shimmery, which highlights the above problem, no amount of buffing seemed to make a difference. They also instruct to just dip your brush in the minerals and start brushing it on your face, so no working it into the brush and then buffing like other brands.
Kaylene-
You should try VistaPrint. They are always doing free promotions and their product is great. I’ve never had any trouble with their color.
I have tried VistaPrint, and I didn’t like it too much, overnight prints card stock is hardier, and I don’t like vistaprints mega spam. I got like 3 or 4 emails from them a day, before finally blocking them or getting off their list or something, it was quite a hastle. I can’t tell you how many emails got lost in the vistaprint spam. Overnight prints is hardly more, and they don’t tack on fees at all. Seriously try them, you may be pleasantly surprised.
I’m pretty sure now that the color problem was the UV coating, which won’t be a problem since I wont be getting it again.
