I’ve got to catch up now! LOL!
So, there’s this little discount perfume shop, Perfumania, at a little factory outlet mall on the way to Galveston, and it had these great deep discounts on perfume. I mean I could go in there and spend $30 and come out with five unique nice scents, some designer, some just simple, perhaps a gift or two, something for Kevin, or some teeny ones for my grab and go bag (even though I don’t travel very much). Any special occasion is more special to me with a new scent…
As most don’t know, I’m a perfume addict. I have an array of unique scents. I don’t always wear them, but I like to have some yummy choices to match my moods. I have everything from rich Italian scents (Amore Eterno, rose, vanilla, and jasmine, and IMARI by Avon), trendy teen scents (Samba Kiss and Curve Crush for Women), all natural scents (Coconut Lime Vanilla from Lemongrass Spa, great stuff BTW, I have a great rep if you’re interested), totally floral (Magnolia Blossom B&BW, it looks like it’s discontinued), light flirty scents (Fire&Ice by Revlon, and breathe romance from B&BW, it looks like it’s discontinued too), to old lady scents (Forever Elizabeth, from Elizabeth Taylor, in my defense, it’s not a typical old lady scent).
OK, I had a little fun with my new camera, hahaha!
Amore Eterno (sorry if it’s too graphic…)- I got this in the summer three years ago, it just is so romantic to me.
Samba Kiss- I beleive I got this around 4 years ago, there’s just a few drops in the bottom.
Magnolia Blossom- I bought this right after finding out Joseph was a boy, B&BW was having a GREAT sale, and Kevin and I decided to pick up some stuff for loved ones and I found this. This has been my newest perfume until the last weekend.
Fire&Ice- Kevin and the boys picked this out for me for Christmas either Christmas ’05 or ’06.
breathe romance- my SIL Afton gave this to me for Christmas years ago (don’t remember which), I’d recently looked and looked for a new scent, and couldn’t find anything I liked, I remember opening this smelling it and wondering how on earth she picked so well. This was my favorite for a long time. I didn’t know it was a B&BW scent till I was on adate with Kevin later and walked past it in the store, haha.
Forever Elizabeth- I don’t remember when I bought this, in the last couple years. Maybe around a year ago??? It so YUMMY!
Despite my spectrum, I’m very picky about what something smells like. AND of course, being my mothers daughter, I never want to pay full price, Thanks Mom, I’m sure you’ve saved me a bunch of $. 🙂
Last Saturday, on the way home from Moody Gardens we stopped by the factory outlets so I could drop into this store, I was looking for something that smells like lilac since at the moment that’s my favorite smell, it takes me back to being a little girl in my Grandma’s back yard, and I had lilacs as the centerpieces at my wedding reception. I can’t seem to find it anywhere. I was also looking to find something with an amber scent since that’s Kevin’s favorite smell at the moment.
I walked into the shop, and was amazed at the changes. Instead of the simple store with a HUGE discount rack against the back wall (usually my first stop) and so much perfume in the air you wanted to fall over as soon as you walked in, it looked like a earthy toned Victoria Secret Boutique, minus all of the embarrassing stuff. They’d remodeled. At least they’d installed a good air system and I didn’t feel faint the moment I walked in. Sadly, all the changes reflected on the prices as well. Instead of the up to 75% off discounts around the store, there was a VERY small selection of up to 50% off for the 4th weekend, and everything else was about 20% off max (which I’m finding, look like mark-ups back to retail after looking on the net at home). Bummer.
I asked the lady about amber, blank stare, lilac, blank stare, OK what about replacing my French Vanilla by Dana, blank stare then, “Um, we don’t carry anything that’s just one scent” (I’d bought it there!), asked about Kevin’s sig scent, which I’d also bought there, blank stare…. Come on, if you work at a perfume shop you should have a clue… OK, what about replacing my almost gone Cool Water for Women, it was a too much! Never mind, I don’t want more that bad. What about Samba Kiss (Which was about $10 for the biggest bottle when I got it a couple years back), overpriced on the rack as well…
French Vanilla by Dana- Plain Vanilla. So nice and subtle. This is my second bottle, I got the first one on my first trip to Perfumania, this bottle must have lasted me 2 years?
Cool Water for Women- I honestly can’t say when or where I got this. It’s a teeny bottle.
I start smelling different stuff, nothing is getting me. Then I spy this pretty bottle. Gorgeous! I ask, if I can smell it, Mmmmmmm! OK, that’s it… Live Luxe. It was a stretch, price wise, but I don’t ever get down there and it’s a HUGE bottle. I buy it and get out to the car where Kevin is patiently waiting with the babies (Michael had come in with me) and I pull out my buy, it’s a Jennifer Lopez scent! LOL! It smells great, I just never thought I’d be much for getting a scent that a celebrity had coined, other than Elizabeth Taylor which floored me when I picked out that scent too.
Live Luxe by Jennifer Lopez
Online the same stuff is cheaper, but you don’t get to smell it before buying it. I guess it’s a great place to order the stuff online that you’re running low on and know you like though… They don’t carry Bath and Body Works or Victoria Secret Scents, but carry most designer and department store stuff.
Edited cause I just have to add, I collected these over a long time and almost all on discount, some were gifts, I hope nobody feels like I’m bragging, I’m just sharing and documenting something that I love. I realize I’m very blessed and I live very richly, I’m so grateful to Kevin for doing everything he does to provide for our family. I hope I’m safe from anyone thinking I’m gift hinting, cause my birthday was last month, and Christmas is still a long ways off, LOL! Hmm, now I feel silly…
I have two bottles of perfume. One is a scent I don’t know the name of (I transferred it to a different bottle) and I’ve forgotten them name of the store where I bought it. The other is Lemon Verbena (as seen on Little House on the Prairie) it is the one I wear now, a few times a year. 🙂
