Fevers and Football

Today is Super Bowl XLII or some odd number or other. It starts at 5. I was going to make some yummy foods for it, but never made it to the store yesterday… We’re DVRing it (like TeVo) so that we can watch the adds later. I’m assuming we’ll watch the first 20 minutes or so then the boys will get rowdy and we’ll find something more family oriented to do. Then Kevin and I can just watch the highlights and the funny commercials whenever we get to it. We have no vested interest whatsoever in who’s playing or who wins, but it’s still fun to watch…

Lastnight the sickness finally took me down. I had the whole fever so bad I thought it was freezing when the room temperature was actually about 70… I had one blanket on me and I just couldn’t get my arms and legs to get warm so I had Kevin get one of our heavy quilts and double it over on me. Halfway through the fever I realized it might be mastitis. I don’t have any pain more than what I perceive to be bearable, so I don’t know.

I don’t know if I want it to be a nasty cold/flu or mastitis.  A cold or flu means that I can fight it all on my own, yet it’s contagious to my precious newborn, mastitis woudn’t be contagious, but would mean a lot of medical intervention, including antibiotics, which deplete my system and cause me a host of other problems. Aiden did have a fever 10 days ago, and Kevin had a fever too over the last couple days, so it’s probably more on the flu side of things. I just hope the fact that I’ve felt a LOT better ever since the fever broke says something and it’s over other than my body recovering from the fever.

While I was out of commission last night Kevin was put to all of the baby duties other than nursing. I think Joey could sense that something wasn’t right with Mommy, and that Daddy was worried about me. So Joey was a bit miffed, and in return Kevin spent the evening and more than half of the night catering to the both of us, rocking and pacing the floor with Joey and checking on me and bringing me water. Thanks Honey!

I just hope that Joey remains healthy. His stuffy nose has gotten quite a bit worse, and sadly we’ve had to suction it a few times, but other than that, a little more gas than usual, and changing a bit of his sleep pattern, things are all normal with him.
