Last I heard lastnight Grandpa still had not gone into surgery, he’d been continuously bumped out of the OR by more important procedures, but today he’s at the top of the list, and they’d be informed with morning rounds today about when his surgery would take place, but it definitely should be today. It’s sad for him, he so wants to stay independent, and wants to keep doing so much but his body just won’t let him anymore, that’s got to be one of the most frustrating things we go through in this life.
Update (early afternoon), surgery is scheduled for this afternoon, thankfully it now looks like instead of an entire hip replacement that they’ll be able to just put a few pins or screws in and sew him back up, a couple days in the hossy, then a care facility until he’s well enough to go home. 7 years ago on September 7th they were in a bog car accident so this is starting to feel like a flashback to that, just not nearly as bad.
Update (Friday Morning), I called my mom lastnight and he’d had his surgery but the doctors hadn’t been in yet to discuss the procedure. Dad had said that Grandpa was awake and laughing, he’s not normally a giggly kind of guy so I think that’s a good sign.
Sadly the more information I get about the beating the more angry I get and want to cringe, that’s just not even near a strong enough word. I guess the guy sexually assaulted her too, thought she was dead, and robbed her. What a sad sick- I can’t even call him a man. But they definitely have arrested the guy, the police took around a picture of him so that everyone could confirm his identity.
I’ll probably just update this thread instead of more updates as I get them.
Here’s my stuff. Good luck!
I think it’s kind of sad that I find out about my grandpa from my cousin’s blog! (It is my gpa, isn’t it?). I’ll have to call them today to send our love. Thanks for posting the info!
Did Mom tell you the AF Chief of Police came Wednesday night and spoke to those in our ward and the neighboring ward. The room was packed and his and other presentations, including a member of our stake presidency was so good.
I’ve been feeling the same angry feelings through the week; just SO glad they caught him – by an off-duty policeman who saw him from the corner of his eye getting on the bus! He was going the wrong direction so radioed for another policeman to check it out. After stopping the bus, three police entered the bus and there he was with the money and other evidence! What a week!
I’m so sorry about your grpa, Kaylene and only wishing the best!!
