Please be an Angel

This morning as we took Michael to school I reminded him, as usual, to be on his best behavior. I said “Can you please be an Angel?” He paused and said, “Um, No!” I was shocked thinking he was planning on being less than stellar. I bit my tongue and asked him “Why not?” He sighed as if I should know already and said “Because I don’t have wings!”

Kevin and I laughed, and explained it was a figure of speech and we really just wanted him to be like an angel… I’m sure I should have explained that real angels don’t have wings, but by then he was gone on his way, smiling his sweet innocent smile that could fool you that he’d never do anything mischievous.
