Diaper Changes

Well Joey is doing OK. The coloring of his poop is finally evening out, and just every few is slightly green anymore. I started eating Chocolate again and I’m now pretty positive that’s not a part of the problem, but I have cut out all nuts and that is definitely helping. Just a few more days and it’ll be completely out of our systems and we’ll see if there’s something else we need to cut out.

He moved up a diaper size in the last couple days, he’s now in size 1-2 in Huggies. He’s gone through two cases of size one, plus the two small hospital packs and a left over medium bag that I got when Aiden was a baby that he never started. The 1-2 size is a transitional size that I find is slightly bigger, we’ll go through this case and see where that puts us.

Aiden is about halfway through his last case of diapers in the house, I’m pretty sure that we’ll move onto training pants when this is done and then he’ll be potty trained. He’s pretty close now, well as far as knowing when he needs to go and going, the problem is remembering to go each of the times.

I usually don’t like Huggies all that much. Michael was allergic to everything but White Cloud when they had no added scents, so I got used to “cheap” diapers with him. Then we liked the HEB brand with Aiden and Mike as Mike was older. Now I like the Target brand and the Sam’s Club Brand, don’t remember the name right now. Joey has mostly been in the Target brand so far since Sam’s doesn’t carry any size one Diapers. That’s why he’s in Huggies now cause that’s the smallest size that Sam’s caries and I like Sam’s Club to be my wipes and diapers stop.

I had an interesting conversation with my brother Ryan last week, we were IMing (instant messaging) and I said “brb, gotta change a diaper.” I got off the computer and changed Joey, then Aiden, washed my hands and came back. He said “I’m sorry,” I said “Why?” he said “Cause you have to change diapers.” Hmm, I hadn’t thought if it that way in a long time. I’ve been changing many diapers daily for almost 6 years now, two years of that time I’ve had two in diapers… Taking care of my little boys basic needs just doesn’t phase me anymore I guess.

He asked me how many diapers I change in a day, and well between the boys there are around a dozen a day, but Kevin does more than half while he’s around. I told Ryan that “I’d rather change a dozen diapers than one batch of dishes,” I have mental issues about dishes. Now Ryan HATES dishes, but he said he’d rather do dishes than change a diaper, LOL! Guess it’s all in your perception. I’d rather talk to my boys, give them love and do something that will make them more comfortable than stand at the sink staring at the wall…

Diaper changes are more than just poop and pee. It’s touching my kids, and dressing them and hugging them and talking to them. Most of my smiles I’ve gotten from Joey have been when I lay him down for a diaper change and talk to him. I rub his feet and rotate his legs, and it’s just fun. With Aiden I change him, and then pick him up and give him a huge hug, the only other time I commonly get that kind of hugs is when I’m telling him goodnight and leaving him for the night.

  • I love how when you become a parent all of the sudden it is completely normal to talk about pee and poop. Cameron had perpetual diaper rashes until we changed to cloth diapers. Now he has one that he can’t seem to shake (only his second ever since cloth diapers) because daddy left him in a poopy diaper for three hours. I agree with you about diaper changes being more than just changing the diaper. Oh, and I have been told when trying to potty train a little boy never use pull-ups they are just glorified diapers that absord a lot and the little boy can’t tell that he is wet. They have training pants underwear that has extra layers for absorbancy and you can use a water-proof cover at night. I have never had to potty train a child but I have helped with several and the ones who wore pull-ups took WAY longer than the ones who didn’t.
