Cabin Fever

Baby Joey
I've left the house twice now since returning from the hospital. Once with Kevin for the doctors appointment, to pick up Mike from School and to grab a script at Target. My second trip was for a very short run to pick up another prescription (the Target Pharmacy tech and pharmacist know me by name now and ask about my boys like we're old friends, we joke "See you tomorrow!" or "See you in a couple days!" as I leave now) a few pacifiers, a box of wipes (for the refills I bought without thinking we didn't have the matching box, LOL!), some more cold medicine for Michael, and a couple more sleepers and receiving blankets... I left the house by myself, ran to Target (about a mile and a…

Bye bye cord stump

Baby Joey
It fell off in the middle of the night lastnight! Wow! That was a surprise, I was changing his diaper and unzipped his sleeper to find a normal slightly scabbed over belly button!!! Wow! What a surprise, I knew it was loose, but expected it to take a few more days.  Real bath here we come!!! He also rolled over on Saturday, he also did on Thursday but I thought it was a fluke. I'm still not too convinced. One thing is clear he doesn't like tummy time. I put him on his belly and he pushes off with all his might until he flops over. I really still think it's a fluke though, I'll have to try it again later with a camera handy and see what happens. Wouldn't…

Jealousy

Baby Joey
We had our first stint with it tonight. I was feeding Joey and Aiden shook his finger at him and told me "No, no." Aiden was hungry too and didn't want Joey eating before him. I finished up feeding Joey, burped him, changed him, and then put him down in his swing and gave Aiden some cuddle time while we waited for dinner to come (tonight was our last night of dinners from the ward, what a lifesaver). I couldn't move fast enough. Michael is still sick and it looks like Kevin has to go in tomorrow, so, I have three boys for my first day staying home alone after Joey's birth. One sick, one high needs newborn and one feeling left out. This should be fun.. Or Something... Haha!…

Hahahahahahahahaha!!!!

Baby Joey
So, the very next diaper change after publishing that last post, not a half hour later, what does Joey do? He pees and poops all over, not just a little, but soaking me, and ruining the outfit and blanket that he was wearing, LOL! Serves me right for counting my chicks before they're hatched. BTW, today is Joey's one week birthday! Happy birthday little monster! Can't imagine life without him.

MLK Day

Baby Joey, Holidays, To new beginnings
Good morning and happy day off to everyone at home today. So far things are going so well with Joey that we're having a hard time not bracing ourselves for the bad part... So far he sleeps well (for a newborn), doesn't have blow outs, has only gone potty a couple times during diaper changes (vs. every time with Aiden, and almost every time with Michael) spits up very little, and only when we don't burp him ASAP after a feeding, burps fast once we start burping him, fusses only when he feels insecure or is very hungry, feels secure as long as he's being held, is MORE content when he hears his brothers roughing around, and it goes on and on. I'm tempted to say that I got my…

Getting back into the swing of things.

Pictures, To new beginnings
We're getting things going again. Kevin should be going back to work on Tuesday, and it seems like normal life is picking up again. I was able to pick up my camera this morning and do a session with Joey. That felt really nice, I've just been so tired and haven't been able to make a lot of time for pictures of him. I woke up this morning with him next to me and he was so beautiful in the morning light, finally the clouds cleared long enough to give us some of the gorgeous golden morning glow. So I'm having some fun playing with those pictures. Poor Michael has yucky cough and a funny voice, but he says he doesn't have a sore throat. We're doing our best to…

A rough night.

Pregnancy
Lastnight was our first rough night with Joey. Usually, so far, he's seemed to have a cycle at night; eat, burp, poop/change, and sleep until he's hungry again at which point I usually wake him up or he starts to meow a little and eat again, very easy when it comes to newborns... Lastnight it went more like, cry, eat, cry, scream through change, want to be held, mommy hit breakdown critical, daddy (who was VERY tired after about 2 hours sleep the night before cause we went to bed very late, he took grandma to the airport, and then the big boys were awake for the day) burped him and get him settled down, lay him down, cry, eat, cry some more, daddy take over again, clean up blow…
