A Big First Today

Aiden, Allergies, Baby Joey
One I wanted to wait about a year for.  Joey had his first solid today, or tasted it anyways...  Aiden gave him a fruit snack when he was crying and I was too slow getting to him...  Joey thought it was nasty!  LOL!  Poor baby!  Joey is 3 1/2 months old, I haven't even started cereal, and won't until he hits 7 months.  I'm delaying solids as long as possible to avoid allergy risks especially considering he and his brothers history.  He's fine, just got a little sticky...

You Know You’re a Mom of all Boys When…

Aiden, Baby Joey, Humor, Michael
You hear your three month old in the back seat pass gas. The three year old starts to giggle. More gas, more giggles, then some poop. The three year old then says "Silly Joey!" This cycle continues on for about two minutes... Then the almost 6 year old gets into the car, he kisses the babies foot, and says, "you smell like poop!" I say, "that's cause he just pooped." Mike says, "No, it's his bottom." Me, thinking we'd already covered this "Are you sure? Maybe it's his ears [that stink]." "No! Mom it's his bum! His ears don't poop!" "Ewwwww!" Only in a home [or car] without any other girls... Somebody save me! Hahaha!

My Cookie Cuddles

Aiden
While I was pregnant, when Aiden would get a little grouchy I'd lay down on the couch, and turn the TV on to something he'd find boring (usually something on TLC), I'd invite him to sit with me and before we knew it he'd often grab his favorite blankets and cuddle up behind me on the couch. Since Joey was born this hasn't worked. It's made me kinda sad. Well, today it did! Joey was asleep in his swing and I had a roaring migraine, it's been a rough couple of weeks. Cookie brought me a blanket and "tucked me in" well a three year olds version of tucking in, tossing a balled up blanket on someone and yanking it around until it covered some of the desirable parts, LOL!…

On the Mend, hopefully…

It's just after Noon, and I'm just finally getting out of bed today. THANK-YOU Kevin, he was able to stay home today... We've been lysoling everything, and I've been doing my best to take care of me while he's been doing his final brushing up for his exam tonight. Lastnight I was able to get that long shower and it helped, By 1 AM I felt like I'd be able to survive again this morning, this morning it was a different story. Aiden just came to me patting his belly, saying "Honkey, tummy, food!" I said, "you're HunGRy?" Aiden~ "Yeah!" Me~ "OK, I can't fix you anything, go ask Dad." Still patting his belly, "I'm Honkey!" Me~ "I know, go ask Dad." Dad already has something cooking for him, LOL!…

I’m so sick!

Aiden, Baby Joey
It's BAD.  Poor Joey's been in the rocker all day other than nursing or changing, I don't want to breath on him, luckily he's been mostly OK with that arrangement.  I called Kevin this morning begging him to come home, but I guess everyone else decided to take a leisure day today...  So he couldn't, I've just been hoping nothing bad would happen. All I want to do is climb in the shower and wash it all away. Aiden's been a ball of trouble.  For the last almost hour he's been in full tantrum state trying to get some help or reaction from me of some sort, sorry pall, don't even have the energy to do anything but give him dirty looks....  He's been kicking me or hitting me and…

The Final Trimester

Aiden, Baby Joey, Michael, The end is near
Jo Jo just turned three months! They've gone by fast, and I don't think they've been "that bad." In fact, in many ways I feel that Motherhood has been easier since he arrived than ever before. I don't know if it's the sweet spirit that he's brought into our home, if I'm more stable or mature, if it's such a relief to not be pregnant that things seem extremely easy, or if it's just that I've resigned to the chaos. It's probably a happy combination of the four. Happiest Baby On The Block suggests that we look at a babies first three months as the 4th trimester. These are the hardest months for a new person as they're still not ready for life outside of the womb in many ways,…

Depression Stinks

Aiden, Baby Joey, To new beginnings, Venting
In case you haven't been able to tell from my lack of upbeat posts lately I'm struggling a bit lately. I'm just going to copy my post from my private family blog. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Screaming, Crying, and Tired (kids, not just me) It's been a rough week. I don't know why, I'm just tired and down and struggling. There's nothing that's any harder than usual, so I don't know what's up. So please pray for me if you get a chance. Yesterday the bug guys came. They only sprayed the kitchen and main bathroom and said I'd only need to stay out of those areas for two hours, and that I didn't need to leave. I decided to be extra cautious (and safe) and go ahead and leave for the day.…

“Tank-oo Mommy”

Aiden, Venting
I've quoted Aiden before, but now this is his favorite phrase.  Especially when he's been a huge stink.  Once I get him calmed down and to act rationally he always says "Tank-oo Mommy" with a sheepish side glance. I can't tell if this is a good thing or a bad thing.  It may be a bad thing since it means that he knows he's out of control and is being manipulative, or it may be a good thing because he's sincerely grateful to me for helping him get back on the ground without getting too grumpy in the meantime.  Maybe it's some of each. I just want the out of control tantrums to end.

Much better.

Marissa, my visiting teacher, came over this morning and it was really nice to see her. Pamela moved away this week (Whaaa!!!) I'll miss her so much, but it was fun to see Marissa and her sweet new son (he's even newer than Joey). I worked on my re-designed business cards (BTW getting nowhere with those), and researched Michael's birthday cake and I'm trying to decide if I'm brave enough to do a cake or if it'd be funner to just buy a fun one... When I went and got Michael I decided to go to the zoo again (we went Wednesday with Playgroup), we had a good time, when it came time to go get Kevin he decided to meet us there, so we all got to play at…

Yuck!

Aiden, Baby Joey, Kevin and I, Michael, Venting
Not such a good day yesterday. I had a tooth ache yesterday. It wasn't fun. Kevin's cell phone is broken, the antenna broke off on Saturday, and so it's reception is very, um, picky. So most of the time he can't make calls out, he only receives a handful of his incoming calls, and most phone calls he does get are garbled or one or the other person can't hear, or even better it just hangs up. This has been a blast... Hopefully they find his warranty soon at work and can get it fixed or replaced. Aiden was a little crankier than usual. Enough so that we didn't get out the door into the car to go get Michael till about 10 minutes later than usual. I pulled up…
